Headteacher's Welcome

On behalf of the staff, governors and children of St Barnabas and St Philip’s School, I would like to welcome you to our website and into our fantastic school community.

As a community, we share the responsibility of ensuring that the children in our care are happy, resilient and successful; fully prepared to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world.  At St Barnabas and St Philip’s School, our ultimate goal is for children to become independent, self-motivated and responsible members of society. Our focus remains on achievement for all and ensuring children have a rich experience of academic excellence, self- discipline and resilience reflected in a distinctive Christian ethos.

SBSP serves the local community by welcoming children from all faiths and children with no faith background. We value and respect the diversity of our community.

However, this can only be achieved when we all work together. The school is strongly committed to working in partnership with our families and extended communities. Good communication between home and school enables a strong partnership built on trust. We as teachers are in a very privileged position; parents entrust us with their most precious possessions and we do our utmost, at St Barnabas and St Philip’s School, to ensure that every child is happy and safe in our care.

As educators, we have an enormous responsibility to ensure that the children in our care, do the best that they can in all areas of the curriculum. Our curriculum is designed to develop all children’s academic and creative abilities, mental and physical wellbeing and foster the Christian values required to engage all learners, offering new and exciting learning opportunities for everyone.

Our powerful and knowledge rich curriculum ensures that all children have the opportunity to develop their understanding of the fundamental skills required to prepare them for the next stages in their education, as well as empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

Experiences are an essential element of our learning process and are used as a means to develop children’s vocabulary and engagement in their learning so that children of all abilities have the same opportunities to access and benefit from the curriculum that we offer.

We believe in inclusive, active and creative learning that engages all of the children, whilst celebrating equality and diversity. We focus heavily on high quality teaching and learning, which centres on developing key skills through the curriculum but also on developing future global citizens.

We encourage our children to become confident, lifelong learners and to achieve high standards in everything they do.

Children who leave St Barnabas and St Philip’s School are well rounded, motivated, knowledgeable, independent individuals prepared for an exciting future on their educational journey.

We believe that this is a wonderful school and we are all very proud of what we do here at St Barnabas and St Philip’s School. Please take the time to have a look around our website and twitter account (@SBSPprimary) to see what we are all about. We look forward to welcoming you into our school community in the near future.

Kind Regards,

Miss Rebecca Timms
