French
Why are MFLs important?
Modern Foreign Languages are crucial in providing children with a curiosity and understanding of the wider world. Learning a language enhances their communication skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while also fostering an understanding of their own and other cultures. Our language curriculum provides fun, engaging lessons through Language Angels, helping children develop positive attitudes towards language learning for the future.
When is MFL taught?
MFL is taught using Language Angels, a specialist language programme, across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The curriculum is designed to provide a structured and progressive approach to learning French.
How is MFL taught?
Languages are taught through a combination of oral and written practice. Children are encouraged to engage in conversations with their teacher and peers, speaking in full sentences and using familiar vocabulary. Lessons incorporate listening, reading, writing, and speaking activities, supported by the interactive resources from Language Angels.
